What you get is the software on a 3 1/2 floppy and a serial port to IC-Q7A adapter cable. The software loaded on a Windows 98 machine without a hitch and within 15 minutes, I had the freqs rearranged to my liking. The instructions received were somewhat minimal, but the software is pretty intuitive so that was not a problem. I also tried Vlaski's freeware using the RT adapter cable and it worked as well, but I went back to the RT software because of ease of use. Just the adapter cable alone is worth it. I gave it a 4 because of the instructions. |

I also have many of the same problems as other people here with my adms-2h software. Even after implementing the so called patch they offer, the software still has serious problems. I also emailed RT Systems, Inc and they never replied back. This is unexcusable in my opinion because we are the people who buy their products. When presented with a real problem with their product they don't even reply to you. RT Systems, Inc has shown us all how NOT to do business, and its up to us let them know in forums such as this. After all, this is where potential buyers of these products sometimes look BEFORE buying. I would not buy anything else from RT Systems, Inc or anything with their name on it. |

Pitiful All Around | Time Owned: 0 to 3 months. |

On July 21st I emailed RT Systems with my findings on their newly released ADMS-2H software. I provided them with detailed problems I encountered with their software, and asked for a solution. As of July 30th I have not received a reply to my original poor software issue, nor any response whatsoever regarding any fixes for the abortion they are now selling. Now I understand the first patch, of which I'm sure will be many patches, is available on their website. I was made aware of this patch by a friend, and NOT by RT Systems. RT Systems apparently doesn't return customer support emails, even from it's PAYING customers, and I have purchased the last piece of software (or anything for that matter) from them. RT Systems' ADMS-2H software and their customer service is pitiful, and I would NOT recommend you buy anything from them or their distributors. ---------------------- Earlier 2-star review posted by KE4RWS on 2003-07-21 Purchased this software last week for two of my Yaesu FT-8900's, and it's apaprent RT Systems didn't do their homework on this software. Otherwise they wouldn't have released it until they worked out the bugs. About every 3rd time you write to your radio the process locks up completely, giving an 'error' message on the radio, and COMPLETELY resets your 8900. You must turn the radio off, back on again, then try the write process again. Several selections in the software are either reversed or WRONG altogether. The two microphone selections are reversed (MH-42 & MH-48). The dimmer setting is wrong as well. If you select the highest backlighting setting, the actual result is next to the lowest. Upon reading from the radio several channels were completely omitted for some reason. Still waiting to hear back from RT Systems to see what they intend to do about this problem. For $44 I'm quite disappointed. It doesn't appear this product was even tested before it was released. Not recommended for purchase at this time . . . |

I bought the 'latest' version at Dayton, version 1.03. It could not save a file, could not read a file, etc. Wrote RT systems an email. Two weeks later, I got a patch. It now works. In the mean time, I started using VX7 COMMANDER. A much better program, more options, settings, flexible. |

Complete disaster ! | Time Owned: 0 to 3 months. |

After spending several hours of trying to get the software working as it should I gave up. My list of bugs and errors is too long to mention here. Leaves me frustrated. Shame on RT Systems for selling software this way. |

Got the 'brand new' version at Dayton 03. Version 1.03. Was told it worked. It did not save right, could not read a save file, etc. Wrote RT Systems an email. Took two weeks for a response. They did send a patch. THEN they put the patch on their web site. WITH the patch, it works.. however VX COMMANDER for the VX7 does much more, and is cheaper!! Make sure you have all the cables you need. The VX7 has a special cable to the connector. I am NOT buying a FT-8800, just because RT makes the software, and no one else. |

Become a BETA tester | Time Owned: more than 12 months. |

I have used three different versions, for various radios, of software by this company. NONE works correctly! The level of errors I see in their products leads me to believe that end-users are their 'beta' testers. This is not quality programming. So, the problems reported here are nothing new. |

not too good | Time Owned: 0 to 3 months. |

Upon initial transfer of radio information to computer the software will not copy information from all bands. Upon transfer of information from computer to radio the software will not transfer all computer information to the radio. In addition, at times, upon transfer of data from computer to radio, the radio will enter into an error mode and all transfer stops. Radio must be turned off and the transfer restarted. Some times this works, other times the dreaded error occurs again. I understand RT Systems has a patch for some of these problems, however untill these shortcomings are corrected, I cannot endorse this product |

I have had this software for a while and have used it with good results. I did order the kit with cables and sotware so did not have to hunt for adapters etc. I already had the Ct-91 mike adapter so it made eveything easy when kit arrived. I have read a lot of negative comments elswhere, but found none of it to be true in my use of the software or cables. Works fine for me |

Needs to get with the Windows 2000 and XP issues | Time Owned: N.A. |
---|
For what it's worth I don't know if it applies to this issue but Windows 2000 and XP no longer work with I/O calls regarding vxd's (virtual device drivers) so any software that relies on these calls to operate are rendered useless. This is not a new problem and it's just the laziness of software developers to make them work otherwise. So this may infact be the poblem with you program |
